NATIONAL YOUTH DAY CELEBRATIONS 2025
National Youth Day is celebrated on 12th January to honor the birth anniversary of the great philosopher, spiritual leader, and youth icon, Swami Vivekananda, who was born on this day in 1863. Swamiji, known for his wisdom, courage, and commitment to the betterment of humanity, stands as an eternal source of inspiration to millions of young minds. His teachings have shaped the ideals of Indian culture and spirituality and continue to guide the youth towards a path of knowledge, strength, and self-discipline.
Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission, Mumbai, celebrated National Youth Day across multiple locations, including the Gateway of India (Apollo Bunder), Mahim Causeway (Mahim), and the Vivekananda Auditorium at Ramakrishna Mission, Mumbai. As a part of the National Youth Day Celebrations VIVEKA Workshop was organized on 13th January 2025.
- At the Gateway of India, National Youth Day was commemorated with the garlanding of the statue of Swami Vivekananda. Approximately 150 to 200 people attended the event. Joint Municipal Commissioner Mumbai Shri Chandrashekhar Chore was the chief guest and Padmashtree Dr. Sundar Natarajan (Ophthalmologist) also attended the function as a distinguished guest. Snacks were provided to all present.
- At Mahim Causeway, the bust of Swami Vivekananda was garlanded with reverence. Around 50 people, including school children, attended this function. Snacks were provided to all attendees.
- At Vivekananda Auditorium, Ramakrishna Mission, Mumbai
A two-day celebration marking the Birth Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda was organized for college students:
- National Youth Day (12th January 2025): This event, held at the Vivekananda Auditorium, saw an attendance of around 350 college students and devotees. Swami Satyadevananda, Secretary of Ramakrishna Mission, Mumbai, welcomed the dignitaries. The ceremony featured speeches on the life and teachings of Swami Vivekananda, delivered by distinguished guests (a) Padmashree Shri Uday Deshpande, Honorary General Secretary & Chief Coach, Shree Samartha Vyayam Mandir, Dadar (b) Shri Hasit Joshipura, Member of the Managing Committee (c) Vivek Sunnapwar, Principal, K.J. Somaiya Institute of Technology (d) Swami Kalyanatmananda, Treasurer, Ramakrishna Mission, Mumbai. The event also included speeches by Youths reflecting on Swamiji’s life and teachings. Snacks & participation certificates were provided to all present.
- VIVEKA Workshops (13th January 2025): This whole-day workshop was attended by 610 college students and faculty members. His Excellency, Hon’ble Governor of Maharashtra, Shri C.P. Radhakrishnanji, was the chief guest. The event featured insights from Swami Satyadevananda, Swami Devakantyananda, Swami Tannamananda, Swami Dayadhipananda, Shri Harish Dhyani (Volunteer), Team of Illumine Knowledge Resources, headed by Shri V. Srinivas. The students of Vivekananda Study Circle also shared their thoughts. The workshop provided valuable guidance and inspiration to students. Snacks, lunch/ prasad and participation certificates were served to all attendees.
