NATIONAL YOUTH DAY CELEBRATIONS 2026

National Youth Day is celebrated on 12th January to honor the birth anniversary of the great philosopher, spiritual leader, and youth icon, Swami Vivekananda, who was born on this day in 1863. Swamiji, known for his wisdom, courage, and commitment to the betterment of humanity, stands as an eternal source of inspiration to millions of young minds. His teachings have shaped the ideals of Indian culture and spirituality and continue to guide the youth towards a path of knowledge, strength, and self-discipline. 

Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission, Mumbai, celebrated National Youth Day across multiple locations, including the Gateway of India (Apollo Bunder), Mahim Causeway (Mahim), and the Vivekananda Auditorium at Ramakrishna Mission, Mumbai.

  1. At the Gateway of India National Youth Day was commemorated with the garlanding of the statue of Swami Vivekananda. Approximately 350 people including school & college students attended the event. Shri Abhay Bapat, Head, Vivekananda Kendra, Maharashtra Region and Padmashree Dr. Sundar Natarajan (Ophthalmologist) attended the function as distinguished guests. Snacks were provided to all present.
  2. At Mahim Causeway the bust of Swami Vivekananda was garlanded with reverence. Around 50 people, including school children, attended this function. Snacks were provided to all attendees.
  3. At Vivekananda Auditorium, Ramakrishna Mission, Mumbai
    A two-day celebration marking the Birth Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda was organized for college students:
  • National Youth Day (12th January 2026): This event, held at the Vivekananda Auditorium, saw an attendance of around 500 college students and devotees. Swami Satyadevananda, Secretary of Ramakrishna Mission, Mumbai, welcomed the dignitaries. The ceremony featured speeches on the life and teachings of Swami Vivekananda, delivered by distinguished guest (a) Shri Sanjoy Bhattacharjee (Former National & Global Head – Operations and Projects (Lubricants), Indian Oil Corporation Ltd), Chief Guest (b) R D Kulkarni, (Vice Chancellor, Mumbai University. Mumbai). The event also included speeches by Youths reflecting on Swamiji’s life and teachings. Snacks were provided to all present along with the participation certificates through email.
    • VIVEKA Workshop (13th January 2026): This half day workshop was attended by 187 college students and faculty members. The event featured insights from Swami Devakantyananda, Swami Dayadhipananda and Dr. Vipul Vyas (Sr. Facilitator & Life Coach, Mumbai). The workshop provided valuable guidance and inspiration to students on Holistic Wellness Living, Development & Application Of Emotional Intelligence and Practical Spirituality. Snacks, lunch/ prasad and participation certificates were served to all attendees.

(a) Bharati Vidyapeeth Dept. Of Management Studies, Kharghar, Navi Mumbai  – Attended by 500 students & 50 faculty members on 10th Jan’26

 

On behalf of Ramakrishna Mission, Mumbai, the following team of volunteers conducted sessions on Swami Vivekananda’s Teachings on the occasion of National Youth Day on 12th January 2026:

1) Smt. Aradhana Dhar, Anushka Date, Rajesh Dave (Volunteers) – conducted session at

  • M. L. Dahanukar College of Commerce, Vile Parle, Mumbai for one Hour. Attended by 78 students
  • Kapol Vidyanidhi College, Kandivali (W), Mumbai for one hour. Attended by 300 College Students. 

 2) Dr. Vipul Vyas (Presenter), Mrs. Manasi Tare, Shri Nishad Tare, Dr. Y.S. Upadhye, Shri Shreekar Shinde, Shri Omkar Khaire

  • S. I.A. College, Dombivli (E) for one hour. Attended by 150 students
  • Model College, Dombivli (E) for one hour. Attended by 80 students
  • Manjunath College, Dombivli (E) for one hour. Attended by 120 students
  • Pragati College, Dombivli (E) for one hour. Attended by 130 students 

3) Prof. Dr. Devayani Awade (Khalsa College) on 13th January 2026

  • Ramniranjan Jhunjhunwala College, Ghatkopar (W), Mumbai. Attended by 252 students.

4) Dr. Vivek Sunnapwar (Principal, KJ Somaiya Institute of Technology, Sion)

  • K. J. Somaiya Institute of Technology, Sion, Mumbai, on 12th January 2026. Attended by more than 200 students.
  • Lokmanya Tilak College of Engineering, Koparkhairane, Navi. Attended by around 110 students on 14th January 2026
